Harpswell Maine is known for it true lobster fishing heritage and it’s exquisite beauty. The locals like to say that Harpswell is the “Real Maine”  Located on Casco Bay, Harpwell Is a short scenic ride from Portland, Freeport, Bath and Boothbay Maine. Harpswell is to us “The Wonderland of the Maine Mid Coast“.

Harpswell is the unspoiled coastal community that is accessible by way of the beautiful Bowdoin College town of Brunswick, which was chosen as one of the best small towns in America by the Smithsonian.  Harpswell is a unique coastal community which recently celebrated its 250th birthday. For over 100 years Harpswell has been a mecca for vacationers seeking a saltwater environment, a serene way of life, and an abundance of natural beauty. Its 216 miles of coastline consists of Harpswell Neck, the three large islands of Sebascodegan (Great Island), Orr’s, and Bailey, which are connected by bridges, the most notable being The Cribstone Bridge, and a scattering of over 200 smaller islands accessible only by boat. With some of the few remaining working harbors on the Maine coast, it offers an authenticity of which they are proud.

Harpswell has it all! Light houses, Ocean views, walking trails, beaches, Historical sites, working lobster harbors and marinas, sailing/fishing charters and tours all here in the Mid Coast Maine region.

Within the town of Harpswell, you will find hundreds of businesses and non-profit organizations that contribute to this unique place. Here you will find a wonderful candy shop, stores, galleries, inns, lobster pounds, restaurants, gift shops, services, libraries,  ocean related tours, marinas, community preservation organizations, artisans and craftsman, as well as places of worship and schools.

Harpswell Maine is the home of the World Famous Cook’s Lobster House. A Maine land mark for over 50 years. Cook’s overlooks one of Harpswell’s famous land marks. The Cribstone Bridge. (See link above). Cook’s Lobster House is also the home of the Bailey Island Tuna Tournament and the “Harpswell Fireworks Display”. The Harpswell Maine Fireworks Display is unique because it is on the 5th of July and has been for over 25 years.
